Beta Club

Beta Club’s Mission Statement:

To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students

The National Beta Club has worked for more than 80 years to encourage and reward student achievement while creating a sense of service and leadership in our youth.  With more than 420,000 active members and over 8,000 clubs globally, the National Beta Club has become the nation’s largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization.  Beta is committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, rewarding and developing exemplary character, fostering leadership skills, and encouraging service to others.  Beta seeks to prepare young people for life, empower them to be successful, and develop the leaders of tomorrow.

The Saint Maria Goretti Junior Beta Club is comprised of students in fifth through eighth grade who achieve Honor Roll status and exhibit excellent conduct.  The organization serves the school and local community through a variety of programs.  Members host an annual spaghetti luncheon and bingo game for senior citizens.  They prepare and serve meals at a soup kitchen as part of the “Loaves and Fishes” program.  Beta Buddies write letters to seniors throughout the year and collect mittens, hats, and scarves for needy children.  At school, Beta members oversee the recycling program, watch classrooms, and do “Zip-Snap-Button-Tie” for the younger grades.  They lead morning prayers and seasonal prayer services as well.  Helping wherever they are needed, Betas strive to serve others and act as role models within the school community.
